Gallery 2727 Opening February 9, 2023
Cover Art: Gallery 2727 Invite to February March Show
Gallery 2727 is an artist run coop which came together in July 2022. We have held art shows every other month at our wonderful venue, Gallery 2727 at 2727 California St in Berkeley, California. I am so thrilled to be a part of this dynamic group of artists whose talents know no bounds. Each of us has our own style and medium–yet somehow as a unit it creates an intriguing show. This particular show had no theme yet several of us did portraits while others did ethereal abstracts. Color is something we are all in agreement about and use it quite splashingly.

Gallery 2727 was formerly a grocery store. This three story structure has wonderfully tall walls that go beyond the railing of the mezzanine.

Overview showing partials of Yari Ostovany work with Josh Stein’s work in the background The Oracle XXI ©2022 40 x 30 x 2 Oil on Canvas by Yari Ostovany Sara Stoffmacher makes excellent use of color. In this painting she emphasizes the color blue. She is showing a variety of work in a range of sizes.

Carla Golder always brings exceptionally detailed artwork. This time she had a variety of portraits done with meticulous care. In this one, the figure may not be detected at first. When found, it is most delightful.

Katie prefers to work in the large. Her piece above “Divided” is 4 feet by 6 feet. We found the perfect spot for it.

Janet starts each new year with either a new series or new additions to her existing series. This year the new series was Les Femmes Mondiales which depicts women of different cultures and colors. So far they are Asian, Black and White separately plus a dual portrait of a Black and a White Woman. She has plans to create additional women for this series.

Gary Comoglio is a gifted artist who explores a variety of mediums. This painting dramatically shows his sense of color.

Gary’s use of line and color in this piece is exceptional. We are all convinced that this a portrait of Vincent.
Charlene Stene works in a variety of media and makes elegant use of debris in her work. This piece has texture remnants used elegantly.

Emily Keyishian’s work is also outstanding and could be reminiscent to some extent Klimt with a modern twist. She has 3 large works on view. Pictured below is When the Moon is a Cold Chiseled Dragon.

The gallery is so appealing and filled with light. Every other month brings forth a new gallery show which is sure to awaken your senses. Please accept our invitation to visit. Hours are Thursday 5 to 9pm, Friday 1 to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. Our current show runs through March 5, 2023.
Hot off the press. We artists of Gallery 2727 will be participating in East Bay Open Studios this year, so mark your calendars these two weekends in May, May 13-14 and May 20-21, 2023.
See you soon.
